Jesse Franklin, once a standout athlete and globe-trotting English teacher, is now celebrated for his transformative community work, earning him a spot in the Puget Sound Business Journal’s top 40 under 40. In 2012, he launched Rainier Athletes in Bellevue, aiming to shatter barriers for underserved youth with mentoring, coaching, and support across various disciplines. Defying Bellevue’s affluent image, his organization addresses critical resource gaps for students facing poverty and marginalization, in partnership with the Bellevue School District. A decade of dedication has not only produced inspiring success stories but also reinforced the commitment to youth support, especially vital during the pandemic. Rainier Athletes, under Franklin’s leadership, continues to expand its reach, notably through the Play it Forward series, driving home Jesse’s ethos of service, equality, and transformative leadership.
